What Is ‘No Pay, No Play’ in Louisiana?
Video Transcript
[Music] Insurance companies are designed to minimize how much they compensate you. And one of the ways they did that specifically in Louisiana is by a law that they got passed called no pay no play. What that means is is that if you don’t pay for insurance that if you then get in a motor vehicle accident and you’re injured, the first $15,000 of your damages get wiped away. So, if you don’t pay for insurance, you don’t get to play by the rules and the laws in Louisiana. And so if you don’t have insurance, it makes it really hard on the lawyer to then compensate you for your injuries because you have to have over $15,000 of damages before you see a penny. So we recommend to have insurance in Louisiana. Liability insurance is good enough. You don’t need more than that. But if you have the money, if you have the means to get more insurance, I would recommend you have something called underinsured uninsured motorist. It’s short for um M and something called PIP. It’s personal injury protection. And these are things that are going to protect you in case you’re involved in an accident. If you have any questions about no pay, no play, or any insurance types, what you should or should not have, call me now. I’m here to help you. [Music]
