What Should I Say to the Police After an Accident | Can a Police Report be Updated?

Video Transcript

[Music] What you should say to the police number one is the truth. If you’ve been injured, tell them you’ve been injured. And if you need to go to the hospital, they can get you an ambulance and they can send you to the hospital. Also, be courteous. They’re trying to do a job and they’re trying to get you out of a harm’s way. So, be kind to them. Those are the recommendations I would have to tell the police. Very rarely are you able to convince the police to change the report once it’s done. You have to remember the police are a neutral party. They’re coming out. They’re taking witness information. And it’s very rare that we find that the police will actually change their story or their reports. Now, if something is blatantly off, for example, if one of your passengers was not in the report, you can call the police and you can ask them, “Hey, my loved one was in this car. They were taken to the hospital, for example. Can you please add them to the report? Sometimes they’ll do that.
