Who Can File For Wrongful Death in Louisiana?

[Music] If you’ve lost a loved one in Louisiana, there’s certain parties that can file a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death claim means a claim on your behalf of the deceased person. And so there’s specific people in Louisiana who can file this claim. It’s what’s considered the intermediate family and that’s the spouse or the child. And so if there is a spouse or a child, these parties trump everybody else. And what does that mean? So if there is a spouse or a child and a parent of the deceased, the parent doesn’t have a claim.
