Shamieh Law is Celebrating Our 10 Year Anniversary: Message from Ramez Shamieh, Founder and Owner
Video Transcript
As Shamieh Law celebrates 10 years in business, I want to take a moment to reflect on what the last 10 years have meant to me and to this firm. And the first thing that comes up for me is over the course of the past 10 years, there’s been one consistent thing that hasn’t changed. And that’s the dedication to serving our clients, serving our staff, serving the community. And that’s something that I take so much pride in. And I’m so grateful that we’ve dedicated our whole business to service and that hasn’t wavered one day. When I also look back over the past 10 years, I think about the people that have been with me the longest. I have an employee here that started with me from day one. Nina Dwarte, and she’s celebrating 10 years with the firm as well, among many other people that have been here. Myles, one of the lawyers, Jorge, Nic Coward, one of the attorneys, and several other people that have been with me a long time. What they’ve defined is consistency, loyalty, believing in an idea of service, of really helping people out. And I’m so grateful for them. We have built an unbelievable business. When you walk in the doors, you feel like you’re at home. And that takes time to build. As you can imagine, there’s been a lot of obstacles and a lot of challenges. And we’ve hit those obstacles headon. We haven’t scared away from any obstacle or any challenge. And we’ve just continued to focus on what matters most, and that’s helping people. If I could go back and talk to the Ramez of 10 years ago, the number one thing I would tell Ramez at age 35 would be to take care of yourself, to find a very aligned work-life balance, to take care of yourself so you can come to work and think clearly. You can go home, take care of your family, you can sleep well, and you can live an optimal life. When I first started my firm, I was working insane amount of hours and I got away with from some of the routines that guided me most of my life. I played soccer at a very high level and so those things started to affect me causing me to have back pain and almost requiring me to have surgery which affected my ability to serve people. So that would be the number one thing. Obviously, I’ve made a lot of changes to create a very aligned life where I can now truly serve people by giving them information on how to take care of themselves and be a model for my staff and for clients. So, that’s the number one thing. The number two thing I would say is you’re going to be all right. You’re going to build an unbelievable practice and you’re going to be challenged along the way. And those challenges are going to be there to help you grow as a person and as a firm. And so don’t look at those challenges in a negative way. Look at them in a neutral way. Ask the question, is there a lesson for me in this challenge? What can I learn from it? Because it’s there to help you grow. And you’re going to grow tremendously. You’re going to have an unbelievable staff. Trust your instincts would be the number three thing I would say because this is something you built. It’s like raising a child. You know, sometimes you don’t even need to be at the office to know what’s going on here. And so, trust your instincts and lead from your heart. Continue to lead from your heart every day. And keep service the number one priority at your firm. I want people to feel relief. I want people to feel comforted. I want people to feel like they’re dealing with a firm that cares about them, about integrity, about authenticity, and knowing, knowing that we’ve put our heart and soul into their case and into the community. And there’s no better feeling than knowing that somebody heard you, held you, accepted you, and honored you, and really took on this dear responsibility we have as lawyers to help people. And so that’s the best feeling I know when when I’m around my family and I’m around people I love and I know that really care about me. That’s the feeling I want people to have when they walk in my door. What excites me most about the next 10 years? Right now, we have such an efficient law firm, we’ve spent hours and so much energy on building a system that every employee understands what we expect from them. And there’s systems in place to ensure that the high quality that we’re demanding gets met. So for example, we have AI in place and AI allows us as leaders at the firm to go in to the entire case load for every client we have and know exactly what’s going on in a very quick manner. And so we’re able now to move cases more efficiently. We’re able to objectively give employees feedback in the moment on what’s going on with their work, with their ability to move the files, and it’s just such a more efficient process. The legal system is just slow. And so, we’re finding ways to speed it up, which ensures that customers are happy and we’re able to do a great job for our clients. And that’s the most thing that excites me is basically making sure that we’re providing the best customer service for our clients ’cause that’s what I’m in business for.
