On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Teresa Gonzales, 66, took a morning walk, as she did routinely outside her home. Teresa tragically fell into a large, poorly covered manhole near 1600 Record Crossing Road at the intersection with Riverside Drive in northwest Dallas. Despite numerous 911 calls, her body wasn’t discovered until October 25— three days later. It was found nine miles away near Cadillac Heights at a wastewater plant at 1020 Sargeant Road.
Teresa Gonzales is survived by many beloved family members, including her daughter, Cynthia, our client. Teresa enjoyed walking, playing card games, and cooking. She frequently took the bus due to poor vision. Teresa fell a few miles from her home at a nearby bus stop. Dallas Police are investigating but currently do not suspect foul play. Detectives report that the water in the manhole was so high that it would have been impossible for anyone to survive.
“Cherish your loved ones. You never know how much time you have left or when you’ll last get to see them. Call your mother, call your brother, call your sister, call your aunts. No one should lose somebody like that. Just cherish your family and friends—just cherish them. You’re not guaranteed anything in this life."
