Three former New Mexico State basketball players have been criminally charged after accusations arose that they sexually assaulted their teammates last year, the state’s attorney general said Thursday. The three charged men, along with several former coaches and New Mexico State athletic director Mario Moccia, also are named as co-defendants in a second lawsuit filed Monday.
“We are very grateful the district attorney’s office fulfilled their promise to provide justice to these players and pursue criminal charges against these criminals that caused so much harm.” – Ramez Shamieh
Shamieh Law was honored to represent the two brave players who came forward with their stories of heinous sexual assault, exploitation, and harassment in the lawsuit filed in May. New Mexico State settled that lawsuit for $8 million in June.
